2023 Retirement Plan Regulatory Update

Listen as members of our  Technical Services Committee review and discus the legislative, regulatory, and litigation changes affecting retirement plans in 2023.

This year, the most significant activity area likely falls in the legislative space, with SECURE 2.0. SECURE 2.0 closed some of the gaps in the original SECURE Act and introduced a variety of new provisions, many of which expand a participant's access to retirement funds. Practitioners have spent much of 2023 writing about and interpreting the new rules, while plan sponsors and recordkeepers focused on how to administer the various provisions.

We also cover updates from the IRS, DOL, and what is happening on the judicial front impacting retirement plans. Retirement Plan litigation continues to expand and we will review some of the more impactful cases for plan fiduciaries.
